New Years Resolution!
Wow! It's been three months since I blogged, and this after telling myself I was going to be much better at it. Yikes! So I am making it my New Years Resolution! BLOG MORE! Normally I would say that my New Years Resolution is to lose weight, to work out more, to eat better, to spend my money wiser...but I find that is dangerous territory. So my New Years Resolution is to blog more. Even though I find it hard to believe that many people could be interested in what I do in my daily life, or what I say, it might not be that far fetched. I find that I enjoy and look forward to reading about the daily lives of other "regular people" bloggers, especially other Kansas City bloggers. I even discovered my now FAVORITE cupcake bakery -- Cupcake A La Mode -- thanks to a KC blogger that I follow.
And while it's my New Years Resolution, I'm going to start it right now, with a brief recap of 2010. Honestly, it hasn't been the most exciting year, but that's ok by me. My baby girl started preschool and is doing fantastic! I can't believe she starts kindergarten in the fall. My baby boy is almost 2 and is hilarious. At the beginning of November, after several ear infections, he finally got tubes in his ear. In the few weeks since, he has had two ear infections and seems to always be sick in some form. But since he got his tubes, his vocabularly has picked up tremendously! My favorite words of his are "Emmy" and "Cheeks."
In June, I became one of 12 competitors in Kansas City Fitness Magazine's Weight Loss Challenge. I lost 18.8 pounds in just 9 weeks, and while I didn't lose as much as the majority of my fellow competitors, I was very proud about what I did do. So because of that I had a nice photo in the magazine, and also got a non-paying gig writing a regular column in the magazine. It's called "Enough is Enough" (not my idea) and is about a working mom who is trying to lose weight and get healthy while juggling a job and family. So far, it's been tough. I took a break from the gym and gained a few pounds, then got back to the gym and was doing pretty good for a few weeks, but started having joint and muscle pain so I've backed off a little bit. I went to the doctor today and will be having some tests run the end of the week to try to figure out what might be wrong, but I think I've decided to go back to the gym this week and just take it easy until we know. I haven't gained much, I fluctuate between 4-7 lbs, but I need to start losing again, so I vow to get back to in in 2011 and reach my goal weight.
So now that the holidays are over, I'm concentrating on my daughter's 5th birthday. Her birthday was in December, but because of Christmas we decided to hold off on her friend party until February. It's a "Barbie: A Fashion Fairytale" inspired party, which means french, fashion, glitter, and pink! I'm having fun coming up with ideas, but now I have to figure out a way to incorporate all of those ideas on a budget!! Wish me luck! And see you soon. :)

I'm impressed with 18.8! I can't lose anything more than two or three pounds - ever. Life just gets in the way.
